Upgrade to DupeCatcher

The DupeCatcher team released an update today for their excellent deduplication app that is available on the Salesforce.com AppExchange FREE of charge. DupeCatcher has become a favorite of many, maintaining it's position near the top of the Free Apps listing on the AppExchange. My experience is that it does an outstanding job of blocking duplicate Salesoforce leads, accounts, and contacts.
The latest version, announced today, now includes deduplication of new Salesforce Person Accounts. Today's announcement means that organizations that use Person Accounts can now take full advantage of DupeCatcher's capabilities regardless of record types.
Since introducing this helpful free tool, Symphonic Source (makers of DupeCatcher) have continued to improve what DupeCatcher is capable of, listening to their customer's pain points and responding with what will be of assistance to those of us in the marketplace that are struggling with data quality standards and specifically, deduplication.
In addition to supporting Person Accounts, there are two other updates to make note of:
The new release allows for the ability to exclude Salesforce logins from DupeCatcher deduplication Filters and Rules.
You will now have new field matching abilities that add efficiency and accuracy to your deduplication processes.
The latest version of DupeCatcher and additional documentation are available at the SalesForce AppExchange listing or from www.dupecatcher.com.

Convert with DupeCatcher

This is part two of my previous post on the new news from DupeCatcher. Not only did they announce a new merge functionality last month, they also added a convert tool that I am finding invaluable.  I think you will too. Who doesn't love a free tool that get us closer to the goal of cleaner data and maintaining the quality standards we strive for.  Specifically, the convert function will allow you to match an incoming lead to an existing contact or account that is already in your database. From there it allows you to automatically convert  that new lead to the correct record type.

There is also a DupeCatcher YouTube channel for us visual learners to watch a quick demo that shares the details. I have provided the video below.  I also found updated documentation on their listing at the AppExchange. Great stuff--check it out.

Merge with DupeCatcher

I have been using DupeCatcher for several months now to block entry of duplicate leads, contacts, and accounts into Salesforce. The tool is simple and effective but has now added some functionality that I have been waiting for. DupeCatcher now allows you to merge multiple duplicates into one entry if so desired. They put a quick demo up on their website, www.dupecatcher.com and on their YouTube channel and it is really helpful to have a quick overview of the new functions. Take a minute and learn what they have to offer to help you maintain your high standards for data in your Salesforce database.

Help for Salesforce Deduplication

I have occasionally mentioned one of my favorite free apps on the Salesforce AppExchange so I wanted to pass along the news on the latest update to DupeCatcher, a Salesforce deduplication tool.

The Symphonic Source (makers of DupeCatcher) January 31, 2011 press release announces that merge and convert features are now a part of DupeCatcher, and the updated version is now available to be downloaded from their listing on the Salesforce AppExchange.  Here's a little of what the press release has to say about the added features:

"With its new merge and convert features, DupeCatcher adds even more flexibility to data cleansing and management. With DupeCatcher’s merge feature, users can quickly and easily display data points from multiple like records, select updated and important information via quick radio buttons, and combine duplicates into a single, complete, and accurate Salesforce record. DupeCatcher’s convert feature gives users the ability to match incoming leads to existing contacts or accounts and automatically convert the new lead to the appropriate record type."

I would agree with the Director of Marketing who says they have been listening to their customers and that the new features are a direct result. Its obvious that there are already a lot of happy DupeCatcher customers out there since this app hit the Top Ten Free Apps list and has stayed there, but I think the addition of merge and convert features will make it more valuable to many who are working hard to clean up duplicate leads, contacts, and accounts in Salesforce.  Cleansing the data in all of our databases is a pain point for all and easy-to-use tools like this are the beauty of the Salesforce AppExchange.

On the AppExchange listing, they have updated their User's Manual to include information on the new Merge and Convert functionality, starting on page 16. There is also a Symphonic Source (makers of DupeCatcher) channel on YouTube that has a DupeCatcher demo and some how-to information on the new Merge and Convert features.
